Dumplin Review

Dumplin
Author: Julie Murphy
Pages :384
Date of publication : September 15th, 2015
Synopsis :Self-proclaimed fat girl Willowdean Dickson (dubbed “Dumplin’” by her former beauty queen mom) has always been at home in her own skin. Her thoughts on having the ultimate bikini body? Put a bikini on your body. With her all-American beauty best friend, Ellen, by her side, things have always worked…until Will takes a job at Harpy’s, the local fast-food joint. There she meets Private School Bo, a hot former jock. Will isn’t surprised to find herself attracted to Bo. But she is surprised when he seems to like her back.

Instead of finding new heights of self-assurance in her relationship with Bo, Will starts to doubt herself. So she sets out to take back her confidence by doing the most horrifying thing she can imagine: entering the Miss Clover City beauty pageant—along with several other unlikely candidates—to show the world that she deserves to be up there as much as any twiggy girl does. Along the way, she’ll shock the hell out of Clover City—and maybe herself most of all.

Review: I was so happy when I received this book from Owl Crate! They always find good book. This one was great! I love what Julie Murphy try to tell us in this book. The size of a person don't matter! I'm not really small so I could really relate to Will. This is also such a positive book!

I think I may have a girl crush on Willowdean! She's so positive and don't care what people think of her and her weight. I want to be like her so much! I think Julie Murphy did a great job with his character. I totally love the fact that we don't know her exact weight. We shouldn't describe people with adjective like big. What is big? Is there a specific weight for being considered big? I think Willowdean deal very well with all the stuff that happen to her. I could never do what she's done.

The love story was really well made too. It's the first time that the main character doesn't end up with my choice. I won't say names but the guy I liked the most (I still like the other but just not as much) didn't get the girl. I like that the love story isn't the main subject.

I recommend it to everyone! It'a an amazing story with such a beautiful message in it. I was so glad to receive it from Owlcrate
